Dear experts and friends of LR,
why is it so difficult to listen to users and accept that they have a problem which for at least some of them significantly impacts workflow. Luckily I am using LR just for non-professional use. I have followed very closely every update and version since LR2 and suffered from another bug in the Library Preview (banding artifacts) since quite a while which was never accepted although reported many times. Surprisingly that bug was fixed and replaced with this new color rendering bug. The new color rendering bug had never been in LR Classic before (starting from LR2). This new bug is unfortunately more annoying since it is obvious in many more images, likely happening always, but for some images more prominent than others. It was reproduced by many of us using different cameras and display profiles. How can some of you claim these issues are tiny, or extremely rare even if they don't see the issue on their system. Mistrust? Do you assume we provide hours of time complaining just for fun? How many example images do you want to get from us? If you don't want to listen, why do you do? I still hope and assume that Adobe wants to listen and that this is the reason to host this user forum. Otherwise, simply stop doing so. Then users stop complaining and save time. We are spending efforts (not to forget the monthly fee) hoping we can influence some decisions to fix bugs. We appreciate Adobe's commitment to further support LR Classic and accept that major parts of the team needs to focus an architectural rework to get LR up and running on new processors. What drives us nuts is to get ignored, or worse, being rewarded as stupid users who just want to complain for whatever reason.
I can only speak for me, but I still like the LR Classic concept and want to continue using it. Personally I already got much more functionality than I need and would appreciate a consistently stable and state of the art performing LR.
I am leaving this thread now. Not worth spending more time I fear. Keeping fingers crossed that it will be fixed sooner than later.

Thanks, Rick - understood and known that develop mode is the ultimate way to assess image quality / soft profiling. Still - quick review in Library mode is of benefit and should not disagree in color space - as this was working before and as this allows a quicker walk through of many images.

Sorry, I was on BigSur before WITHOUT having this issue. It was introduced with LR update. I would appreciate Andrew, if you could post a video/screenshot of LR10.1.1 with Library preview in different zoom states, I can send you one of my images, but as the same issue happens with different cameras I doubt that this depends on the images themselves.

I see the same issue for sRGB profile selected in Mac display settings. I would appreciate to see a screenshot of a correct behaviour on any Mac with BigSur and latest LR proving that there is no issue. I would appreciate if there would be from Adobe either a statement that they tried to reproduce it, even if they failed to reproduce it, that they are working / not working on it.

As me and many others have this issue and can easily reproduce it - I again rechecked also with AdobeRGB default profile, with internal MBP display, with/without GPU, for different camera brands- and as it might be not very obvious depending on the object color nature but clearly visible in comparison of the library vs. develop zoomed image, may I ask you to provide some screenshots of the same image in lib/dev mode fit screen/zoomed view? I can also share an example image to compare the result on my / your sons system. I would appreciate to see that there are systems out there with latest LR / MacOs who don't show this bug which many of us annoys.

I can well imaging that a SW with thousands of features and hundreds of different HW deployments it needs to run on makes it difficult to detect such a bug. Still, for Mac users it seems to be easily reproducible at least maybe for those applying color management. So I would not consider it "extremely rare". Or are there Mac users with LR10.1.1 on Big Sur who do not see this issue?

Sorry, Bill. I am getting a little upset too. I had posted the issue also and for one day I thought it had gone by changing resolution of the display. For any unknown reason the temporary performance boost disappeared again and I am struggling with the same performance issues again. But - and I can imagine others feel in a similar way - at some point in time you just get bored and tired and stop complaining, because - and I would love to see a change in communication from Adobe - you don't get the feeling that Adobe is really listening. An update here and there that the bug is being worked on, or questions back to the community or request for help - that is missing. I have a MBP16 and latest LR and Big Sure - nothing outdated. Also, I have once followed all steps for a different bug - to test and reinstall and do this and that - we hear the same advises over and over again for all kinds of problems, but if you read the posts you realize that others tried this as well without success. Pushing customers to reinstall, reconfigure keeps them busy for a while or at some point in time they stop complaining, maybe stop posting issued and after a while they simply may have gone to competition.
I loved LR since the very first days and I am sure most users do like the concept and interface. Still, many don't request tons of new features and miss performance of older versions running faster on older hardware.
I remember the day where Adobe product management rolled back after some not thought-through changes in the import interface after lots of users complained. Some recognition of customers and maybe some more update regarding status of bug fixing in case of issues which professional photographs drive mad - luckily I do not depend on LR for my work, but if would, I would be mad as well. So I will keep fingers crossed and hope we get this issue fixed soon.
I recognise the endless efforts of Adobe reps bridging customers and product management , it is a tough situation sometimes and I thank them all for doing their best in bringing our voices into the teams. I know how difficult it can be working in a company dealing with similar sized software projects.

I just noticed that my system shows a great boost in Library performance on my 4K BenQ SW271 with Adobe RGB color profile (calibrated using i1) when changing the display resolution to "unscaled full 3840x2160" in BigSur. Way better than any scaled resolution which I usually applied before.

Ha, I found a way to temporarily switch of the bug:
precondition: apply treatment profile "Adobe Vivid", zoom into image and toggle between Library and Develop, system shows color change.
now do the following:
1. change vibrance slider to another position
2. toggle between Library and Develop
--> no color change !! only small difference in kind of smoothing/interpolation applied
3. either zoom in/out or pan the image
4. toggle Library/Develop
--> again color change is showing up

Yes, I switched also to standard display profiles by Mac, not created with BenQ software. Same issue.
I just noticed that the level of difference depends on the treatment profile applied. For Adobe Vivid the mismatch is much more prominent than for others.

As mentioned before, it seems to be the same bug as described here: https://feedback.photoshop.com/conversations/lightroom-classic/lightroom-classic-100-using-the-zoom-to-fill-function-in-the-print-module-shows-the-original-unedited-version-of-the-photo/5fc297e6ecf16939894a4edf.
I can confirm that this bug was not showing up in V10.0. I was trying to check another issue (https://feedback.photoshop.com/conversations/lightroom-classic/lightroom-classic-images-not-sharp-unless-i-zoom-in-and-out/5f5f45fa4b561a3d426c4ceb) which btw. has been fixed with V10.1 for me.

Thanks for testing, I am uploading a video showcasing the dynamic behaviour of the color switch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5i0ryxm3fki1f6/LibZoomColorBug.mov?dl=0
this is on the laptop directly, not on external display. As said, it happens to all display profiles and with all treatment profiles, with/wo GPU support. So maybe dependent on graphics adapter / operating system?

If you need anything else - let me know. The image has the "Adobe Vivid" Profile applied. I also just tried to rebuild the previews - no change. The color switch appears when the image zoom factor is of that size such that the image does not fit anymore completely into the view. The color is correct for any zoom factor which shows the complete image in the view, even if zoomed out a lot.
Tried the same on the MBP internal display with different color profiles - the same behaviour, it does not depend on the display nor the color profile chosen in the MacOsX Display settings.

@Rikk sur. Here is a comparison if the image in zoomed view and original view - after screen capturing resized to show similar field of views. The right image is the correct one, at least showing exactly same colours in develop mode in different zoom states.
Interesting thing - just before zooming into the image in Lib mode, for a fraction of a second the image changes to wrong color in original size before zooming in and keeping the wrong color.

Disabling GPU (with/without restarting LR) does not change situation. I am wondering why ICC profile should have become corrupted just while updating from 10.0 tu 10.1 version. Anyway, I will try to recalibrate and see what happens.

When zooming into an image in library mode, the color changes suddenly and differs from all the consistent colours shown in develop mode or library mode (fit image). I just updated to LR10.1 and appreciated other fixed bugs. I am using an external BenQ display calibrated to AdobeRGB profile using xrite. The images have Adobe profiles (AdobeVivid) applied.

It seems that finally in Dec 2020 release 10.1 it is fixed. Still cannot believe it - there seems to be a new bug in library mode - if you are zoomed in the color looks quite different than in develop or fit view, maybe the image profile is not used there.
Can anybody confirm changed behaviour in 10.1. ? I just did the update and have seen the old buggy behaviour in 10.0 just before on same images.
